Servicing your hot water unit
How often should I get my hot water unit serviced?
This is a question we get asked by customers every week.
Our best advice and recommendation is every 5 years. This frequency usually is enough to ensure your water heater operates at is optimum and also ensures any issues should be identified without the need of it being replaced. Manufacturers will also provide a service recommendation on their water heater, this can be found on the respective web sites. This will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and from product to product.
Commercial water heaters may need higher frequency due to the amount of hot water they are required to deliver and the hours they are in operation. Some commercial hot water units are on 24 hours a day. Depending on your water quality in your specific location there are some domestic water heaters that will require servicing more often than 5 years.
The other important bit of information with servicing is ensuring your water heater is installed and commissioned correctly and compliantly. The better the install the longer they will usually last.
